Project I.G.I. · Mission studio
A mission studio for Project I.G.I.: I'm Going In. Place guards and draw their patrols on the map computer, set objectives and alarms, and shape the ground. Then apply it and play it in the game.
AI designerOr just describe the mission in plain words, and watch it being built on the map.Free and open source · Windows 10 and 11 · needs your own copy of the game
Tested with Project I.G.I. 1.1, as it shipped and with a texture pack
01 // What it does
The studio reads the game's own levels and missions, so you design on the real ground with the real buildings, and what you apply is what you play.
Design on the green map you know from the game: contours, buildings seen from above, every guard and pickup as a symbol. Zoom, drag, place.
Drop soldiers, snipers and officers, draw their routes on the walkways, set how far they see and how hard they fight. Sight lines show what they cover.
Destroy, steal, reach, rescue, survive. Chain them with triggers so doors open, reinforcements arrive and the briefing plays when you say.
Security cameras with their sweep drawn on the map, alarm panels, sirens, and who comes running when the alarm goes off.
Raise and flatten the terrain, paint it, place buildings, fences, towers and trees, and look at it all in a 3D close-up before you play.
Tell it what you want in plain words. It reads the map, places the guards, writes the objectives, and shows you every change to keep or undo.
The game's mission scripts, read and written by the studio itself: all 884 of them round-trip byte for byte. No external tools needed.
The 14 original missions are never touched. The studio keeps a checked reference copy and writes only to custom slots, so you can always go back.
02 // How it works
Point the studio at your Project I.G.I. folder. It checks the build, keeps a reference copy and reads every level.
Read how ›Start from a built-in mission or a blank slot. Place guards, draw patrols, set objectives, or ask the AI designer.
Read how ›One click compiles the mission into the game. Start I.G.I., pick the mission, and go in.

› The original missions to learn from and copy, and your own, each with its slot in the game.
04 // The AI designer
The AI designer knows the map, the guards, the objectives and the rules of the game. Ask it for a harder approach, a new objective or a whole mission, and it makes the changes in the studio, where you can check every one.
05 // Go in
One installer, no Python or anything else to set up. It installs for your user only and keeps your missions when you update or remove it.
Windows SmartScreen may warn you about an unknown publisher, as the installer is not signed yet. Choose More info, then Run anyway.
06 // Behind the studio
Project IGI Studio is the work of one person. The map computer, the compiler that rebuilds all 884 of the game's scripts byte for byte, the AI designer, the installer and this site were all made by Nouman Ahsan.
When not sending guards on patrol, Nouman builds AI systems for a living: language models, agentic workflows and computer vision.
If the studio gave you a mission worth playing, a star on GitHub helps other players find it.
